Himalayas - Basecamp Mount Everest

AUG. 31 - SEP. 14, 2027

The ultimate road trip of your life: to the Himalayas in a Jeep Wrangler

The Himalayas – the most majestic mountain range on Earth. With a length of 2,500 km and a width of up to 330 km, this giant rises between the Indian subcontinent and the Tibetan plateau.

Ten of the fourteen highest peaks in the world are located here, including the legendary Mount Everest, which stands at 8,848 meters.

A destination that makes adventurers' hearts beat faster – and we say:

We have to go there!

  • Adventure tour with the Jeep Wrangler to the Himalayas in Tibet
  • The highlands of Tibet
  • The city of Kunming in China: The gateway to the clouds and starting point of our jeep tour

The journey begins in Kunming: The gateway to the clouds

Our journey begins in Kunming, the capital of the southern Chinese province of Yunnan. At an altitude of 1,890 meters, we complete the formalities for our Chinese driver's licenses and pick up our perfectly equipped Jeep Wranglers – ready to take us safely and comfortably through our adventure.

We spend the first six days in picturesque southern China, where we acclimatize to the altitude and explore fascinating places.

The highlights here include:

  • Dali - a charming town on Erhai Lake
  • Lijiang - UNESCO World Heritage Site with traditional alleys and tea houses
  • Tiger Leaping Gorge - where the Yangtze River displays spectacular rapids

Shangri-La: Paradise beyond the horizon

After our time in Yunnan, the legendary Sichuan-Tibet Highway takes us to the heart of Tibet. Passing breathtaking landscapes, we travel over the Dungda La Pass, past the picturesque Ranwu Lake and along the Yarlung River to Shangri-La: a fictional utopian paradise described in James Hilton's 1933 novel “Lost Horizon.”

From there, our route takes us via Rumei City and continues to climb higher and higher. From Dongda Mountain Pass (5,130 m) through the “grasslands where eagles cannot fly” and over Yela Pass with over 100 hairpin bends to Ranwu City.

World Heritage Site: The Palaces and Temples of Lhasa

And soon we will be in one of the most beautiful places on our planet. Lhasa, the holy city, invites us in. Two UNESCO World Heritage Sites—the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple—will captivate us.

The Potala Palace in Lhasa

From Lhasa, we continue via Gyantse to Shigatse. Let's marvel together at the extraordinary route and the breathtaking natural beauty.

To the very highest: the roof of the world

Then we come to the grand finale: our trip to Mount Everest Base Camp. We will have countless opportunities to see the world's highest mountain from a wide variety of perspectives, right up until the golden glow of sunset.

The next day, we enjoy a new and final view of Mount Everest early in the morning. But that's not all: we also have the opportunity to see the fourth highest mountain in the world: Lhotse, at 8,516 metres.

Grand finale in Lhasa: the magic and ancient mysticism of Tibet

After returning to Shigatse, we devote ourselves to Tibetan singing and dancing.

It's time to slowly say goodbye. We drive back to Lhasa. There are still many leisure activities to enjoy here. In the evening, we round off this extraordinary experience with dinner together.

The end of a special journey... a journey that will touch your heart and soul.
