From Paris to the Breakthrough: The Ultimate Chronological D-Day & Normandy Experience

An exceptionally immersive 7-day journey into the heart of history: Join us on an extraordinary, deeply moving expedition that chronologically retraces the liberation of Europe exactly as it unfolded back then.

This exclusive self-drive tour begins in glittering Paris and takes us on a precise journey through the triumphs, tragedies, and unbridled courage of the Allied forces. From the nighttime parachute drops of the airborne divisions, through the deadly labyrinth of hedgerows (bocage), and General Patton’s lightning-fast breakout, all the way to the dramatic finale in the Falaise Pocket – this is far more than a historical tour. It is a profound exploration of human bravery, self-sacrifice, and the depths of war.

  • Jeep Experience in the Normandy, Word War Museum
  • Die Normandy, Omaha Beach
  • A Jeep Tour Through the History of the 1944 D-Day Invasion

While we hike through historic landscapes during the day, you’ll relax in the evenings at hand-picked, historic châteaux and enjoy the best that world-famous Norman cuisine and hospitality have to offer.

Itinerary: Saturday through Friday

The Beginning: Arrival in Paris & The Strategic Chessboard

We arrive in Paris, pick up our rental cars, and check into the hotel.

Afterward, they gather for an exclusive welcome dinner—and a strategic briefing around the map table. Together, we set up the global political chessboard: for the summer of 1944!

Culinary Highlight: A delightful introduction to classic French cuisine in the heart of Paris.

The Nighttime Drop: The Airborne Vanguard

The Dawn of Liberation: We leave Paris early in the morning and head straight for the early hours of June 6, 1944.

At the Pegasus Bridge, we are standing exactly where British gliders carried out their surprise midnight raid and secured the first vital bridgehead in France.

After that, we'll head over to the U.S. sector in Sainte-Mère-Église and walk the streets where paratroopers from the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions dropped from the night sky.

Sample Dinner / Our Recommendation: A classic Escalope Normande (tender veal cutlet in a rich sauce made with Normandy cream, mushrooms, and a splash of Calvados), served with local dry cider.

The beaches of destiny: Omaha & Utah

The Amphibious Landing: A deeply moving day dedicated entirely to the heavy sacrifices and triumphs of the U.S. Armed Forces on the coast. Join us on a walk along the beach at “Bloody Omaha” and pay your respects to the fallen among the thousands of white crosses in Colleville-sur-Mer.

We marvel at the steep cliffs of Pointe du Hoc, which were stormed by U.S. Army Rangers under devastating fire in order to take out the German artillery positions.

Sample Dinner / Our Suggestion: A feast from the sea—enjoy freshly caught Coquilles Saint-Jacques (scallops) or mussels cooked in cider broth, followed by a traditional Tarte Normande (apple pie).

The Hell of the Hedgerows: The Bocage & Operation Cobra

The Labyrinth: Of course, the battle didn't end on the beaches. We head inland to understand the brutal, claustrophobic war that raged across the Norman countryside.

The Bocage: Experience how the dense, centuries-old hedgerows transformed Normandy into a deadly labyrinth and forced American soldiers to completely reinvent their tactics in the heat of battle.

Operation Cobra: We trace the path of the massive Allied carpet bombing and the subsequent mechanized breakthrough that finally shattered the German front.

Sample Dinner / Our Recommendation: An absolute specialty of the southern part of the region: Agneau de pré-salé (salt marsh lamb), famous for its incomparably tender, savory flavor, as the sheep graze in the salty bay of Mont-Saint-Michel.

Patton's Advance & The Armored Counteroffensive

The War of Movement: As the front breaks through, the pace accelerates dramatically. We follow the aggressive maneuvers of one of America’s most legendary generals and reconstruct the path taken by General George S. Patton’s armored spearhead—Patton’s Third Army—as it swept south and west toward the Brittany Peninsula.

Operation Liège: We visit the crucial ridges near Mortain, where vastly outnumbered U.S. units withstood the desperate German tank counteroffensive, which had been ordered by Hitler himself.

Sample Dinner / Our Suggestion: An authentic Norman cheese tasting featuring genuine Camembert, Livarot, and Pont-l'Évêque. Between courses, we serve guests the traditional Trou Normand (an apple sorbet with a splash of Calvados) to “open up” the palate.

The Cauldron: The Downfall of the 7th Army

The dramatic climax: We reach the historic turning point at which the German army met its ultimate fate in Normandy.

Here we analyze the brutal closing of the Allied pincer movement—the Falaise Pocket—where the fleeing troops were surrounded.

Standing together on the heights of Montormel, we look directly into the deepest abysses of war—the so-called “Corridor of Death”—as well as at the immense price that had to be paid for total victory.

Sample Dinner / Our Suggestion: A traditional, slow-braised comfort food dish such as Joue de Bœuf (beef cheeks in a rich red wine sauce) and Teurgoule (rice pudding baked in the oven for hours with cinnamon) for a sweet finish.
