Perhaps the most extraordinary trip to Iceland in the summer
Far away from the tourist crowds, you'll see a different side of Iceland — one that's all your own. We're absolutely certain - it will captivate you.
We’ll start in the south of the island and, of course, take the opportunity to check out the “Golden Circle”—but we’ll also dive right into training and getting acclimated to everything that might come our way. That means riding on trails, crossing rivers, and—in the northwest—facing a few new challenges here and there—for those who already have experience in Iceland.
Over the next few days, our journey will take us through Europe’s largest desert to the north of the island. And there’s already plenty to discover here.
From Akureyri, we’ll then head to the northwest of the island—to the extraordinary fjord region. Whales, arctic foxes, and puffins may accompany us—both on land and at sea.
And the trails are quite a challenge. Check out the F622—together with you, we’ll take on anything—always keeping the weather and safety in mind, of course.
Individual arrival and departure are scheduled for Saturday. In the afternoon, we'll meet at the hotel and begin our trip with a comprehensive briefing, followed by dinner together in Reykjavík.
We spent our last night back in Reykjavík, where we wrapped up this extraordinary trip with a lovely dinner.
A note on rental cars:
If you don’t want to or can’t bring your own off-road vehicle, it’s no problem at all to rent a suitable vehicle in Iceland. We’d be happy to provide you with more information about this, with no obligation. For example, the following vehicles are available locally: Jeep Wrangler JL, Toyota Land Cruiser / Prado 150 and 250, Land Rover Defender, and other high-performance vehicles, many of which have been modified. It’s important that they have a low-range transfer case and a wading depth of at least 70 cm.

Vehicles
The tour offered is a self-drive tour. It goes without saying that your vehicle must be an off-road-capable SUV. The wading depth should be at least 70 cm. Ground clearance should be 25 cm.
Shipping of emergency vehicles / personal vehicle
You can ship your own vehicle via Denmark or Rotterdam. We’d be happy to advise you on this matter. Simply contact us with no obligation.
TIP!
Given the current prices for shipping your own car by boat, renting a car locally may also be a good option.

Auto Insurance
A car insurance policy valid in Germany is also valid in Iceland.
Driver's License
A German driver's license is also valid in Iceland.
A maximum of 200 liters of fuel may be brought into the country.
Spare parts that are needed may be imported duty-free.
Vehicles may be imported for up to one year. The vehicle may be used only for private purposes. An application for temporary importation must be filed within one month.
On the topic of “Imports”:
Travelers may import up to 10 kg of food, including sweets, worth 25,000 ISK duty-free. Alcohol: 1 liter of spirits (over 21%), 0.75 liters of wine, or 3 liters of beer. Tobacco products - yes, 200 cigarettes. Minimum age for alcohol is 20, and for tobacco, 18. However, there are also import restrictions: For example, cell phones, radios, and similar devices must bear a CE mark. You can find detailed information here:
Fishing gear or riding clothing that has been used must be disinfected in accordance with the relevant regulations — but that shouldn’t apply to us. Firearms and ammunition… but that doesn’t apply to us either. Medications for personal use — no problem there either. A medical certificate must be presented to the customs officer upon request.
